2010
SPORTING REGULATIONS


These sporting regulations as stated below are supplementary to the regulations for Group 3 Sports Sedans and schedule A, B and C as stated in the CAMS manual of motorsport. These rules pertain to the running of the 2 litre Sports Sedan Championship for the year 2010. To be eligible for points in this championship, competitors must comply with these rules in their entirety. Points are awarded to the individual competitor or officially registered team.

These rules are in addition to the rules and regulations noted on the home page.




1. CLASSES

There are 3 classes within the 2010 Championship. All vehicles will need to comply with the Group 3 Sports Sedan regulations and schedule A, B and C as published in the CAMS manual of motorsport along with the following additional supplementary regulations.

OUTRIGHT
All competitors will compete for outright position.

CLASS A
Any Vehicle 1601cc to 2000cc .

CLASS B
Any vehicle up to 1600cc.

TURBO CLASS
A) - Any vehicle 1175cc to 2000cc with forced induction.
B) - These following weights are minimum racing weights that include the driver.

1) - Minimum weight Rear Wheel Drive 1250kg
2) - Minimum weight Front Wheel Drive 1150kg
3) - Minimum weight Four Wheel Drive 1250kg

C) - A Restrictor plate must be fitted to the inlet tract prior to the air entering the turbo/Super charger, so that all air used in the combustion process of the engine must pass through the restrictor. The maximum internal diameter of the restrictor plate is 36.0mm.
D) - No spaceframe chassis. All forced induction cars are required to remain floor-pan cars as defined in the Cams Sports Sedan Regulations.
E) - The engine must remain in the original location.

The new TURBO class regulations may be modified for parity reasons during the season to ensure that no cars are unfairly disadvantaged.



2. POINTSCORE

A) - Points will be awarded for each race other than the final for each round as follows;
1st - 20 points
2nd - 19 points
3rd - 18 points, etc thorough to 20 who receives one point.

B) - The final race at each round will be awarded points as follows;
1st - 40 points
2nd - 35 points
3rd - 30 points
4th - 25 points
5th - 20 points
6th - 15 points
7th and onwards - 10 points (all place getters from 7th including 7th get 10pts)

C) - The 2010 Championship season consists of 5 points rounds however, only 4 rounds will be used in calculating the 2010 Championship point score for each competitor.
1) - Each competitor will select their 3 best rounds to be used in calculating their 2010 season points excluding round 5
2) - The last race, round 5 (Winton 13th - 14th November) cannot be dropped
3) - A competitor does not have to enter a round to drop that round from their point score total
4) - A competitor who enters all 5 rounds and commences at least practise or qualifying lap in each round (on the first day of the scheduled race meeting) will receive 20 bonus points to add to their years total point score


3. ENGINE SEALING

To be eligible to compete for club or series points in a 2 litre Sports Sedan round, the competitor must have any engine used in the race measured to ensure that the capacity of the engine is under 2000cc. Once measured, the engine is to be sealed, the engine capacity measurements, engine number and seal number shall be recorded on the official 2 litre Sports Sedan engine sealing form. This completed form must be made available for inspection along with the corresponding engine seal at any time during a race meeting. All engine sealing is to be conducted by an engine sealer approved by the 2 litre Sports Sedan Association. The club, at its discretion, may require a car to have its engine measured and sealed before it is allowed to race with the under 2 litre sports sedan field. The club, in exceptional circumstances, may apply some leniency on this rule.


4. SIGNAGE

A) - An area 200mm high across the top of the windscreen is to be made available for the years sponsor’s signage. This signage is supplied to the competitor by the 2 litre Sport Sedan Association and must be displayed in this location throughout the year.
B) - The 2 litre SS club sticker is to be displayed in the area directly above the race number. If there is insufficient space available above the number then the sticker may be placed below the number.
C) - The club Website sticker is to be displayed across the lower edge of the windscreen on the same side as the windscreen race number.
D) - The provisions must be made for a blank 138mm white circle pitstop decal directly below the windscreen competition number. These decals will be issued at the approate rounds. These decals MUST BE REMOVED for non-pitstop (CPS) races.
E) - If a competing car does not have the correct signage in the correct places then there will be NO Points awarded for that for the duration of the non-compliant period.

5. QUALIFYING & RACE FORMATS

A) - Pitstop races will be conducted at Winton Motor Raceway only and will be Rounds 1, 3 and 5 where we have our own races (unless agreed to by the other competitors of a joint category race meet) or unless otherwise noted.
B) - Reverse grid races will be conducted at Calder Raceway only, 1 race during the meeting and only where the field is 12 or greater where we have our own races(unless agreed to by the other competitors of a joint category race meet) or unless otherwise noted. Calder being not scheduled in this years calendar this rule has no effect in 2010.
C) - One lap Qualifying will be conducted at Round 5 Winton Motor Raceway.


6. TROPHIES & AWARD PRESENTATIONS

A) - Each class will require at least 3 competitors to be entered for class trophies to be awarded for that round. Trophies will be awarded on the following basis.
3 competitors = 1st place only
4 competitors = 1st and 2nd place
5 or more competitors = 1st, 2nd and 3rd place

B) - Round trophies to be presented at the following General meeting.
C) - 2 Annual awards will be awarded at the end of year presentations for:
1) - Rookie of the year - Selected by the Committee
2) - The Mark Diggerson Award (Clubman of the Year)- Selected by the Committee


7. TEAM ENTRANT

Multiple drivers may enter as a team, and if so may drive the same car at separate rounds of the championship. Only one driver can compete at each round. The official team registration form must be completed prior to the commencement of the championship by that team/driver combination.

Whilst registered as a team, no points can be accrued as an individual driver. The driver’s points will be allotted to the team only. Each team member must enter and be the driver for at least one round during the year.
