Editorial Ramblings -

2008 is upon us, so you've probably been camped out at your letter box waiting to receive your latest issue of INSIDE LINE.... (Downloadable) well Xmas arrived first, but finally it is here! This will be only a brief mag for the month as we needed to get some info out to you before the holiday break so you can all organize your calendars.....

We have a new President elect, for those who don't know, Jamie Augustine has been voted in at the last club meeting as President for 2008. There is also a new Committee, with a list those elected on the Contacts page. Thanks go to Cammy for his time spent as President of the club. There has been a lot to deal with of the last couple of months but with these issues now resolved, we can now all get back to having some great racing.

So on to the Calendar and the first round for 2008. This was held at Calder Park on Saturday February 2nd. We know that round 1 was very early, but we couldn't do anything about it. But, just like last years successful event, it was a one day twilight event. So it is was worth hurrying to get our cars ready to race in this entertaining event. To encourage entry's at this event, there was be an extra 5 bonus points per race started for attendance at the first round. To assist those who couldn't get to the first round, you will be able to drop any round except the last round in the club championship point score.

2008 Racing Rules

We will aim to continue Pit stop racing, Staggered reverse grids and one lap qualifying. We have decided to only run these special events if there are more than 12 cars entered at that round. There will be no more reverse grid races if the starts are not staggered due to the congestion it causes going into turn 1 at Calder. Turbo's will be allowed after the vote was passed at the last meeting. This site will be updated with the amended turbo rules shortly. (not too much has changed from last season)

The Club X Cup

Proudly supported by Club X and is a inter-championship cup thats held over 2 rounds of the championship, they will be Rds 3 and 4 of this years championship. The basic rules are as shown:

The best lap time set in qualifying will be recorded, and for each lap that you match your qualifying time you will be rewarded with 3 Club X Cup points for the Cup. This is for each race

EG. At Calder if you qualify with say 1min 05.37 then every lap that you do for the weekend that is in the 1 min 05's you will get 3 points. Say you did 4 laps in the 1.05's then you would get 12 points regardless of your position for that race.

Big Changes for 2007

1) The class structure has been adjusted to a capacity (Engine size) system only.

2) Dropping the worst race at the end of the year, for overall points.

3) Round 6 to be 1st/2nd December at Winton

4) Round 1 will a twilight one dayer on the 17th of Feb.

5) And the big one! The ideal of letting turbo cars which would take in most current and later model cars still up to 2000cc, with a list of restrictions upon them allowed to run with us has been floated. The ideal has been taken on board favourably by most club and competing members.

Stay tuned for further updates and more details as they come to hand.
