Brief History on how the 2 Litre Sports Sedans become a Category
The 2 Litre Sports Sedan Series was born in 1992 out of the frustration of many competitors with smaller capacity cars wanting to enjoy their racing but being made to feel unwelcome and inadequate because of driving cars that didn't have a large horsepower producing engines.
The Australian Sports Sedan Association was contacted in February 1992 with a letter addressed to the committee. This letter asked for their impressions of how a series like this would proceed and whether their association would like to organise such a series or oversee a committee to organise such a series. After several phone calls we were presented with the rules for the limited class, which was a cut down version of the Sports Sedan regulations, and in which clearly our vehicles did not comply. We were told to fit in else we don't run and besides they had tried a 2 Litre class and it didn't work.
After receiving a reply from Andy Clark - State Manager CAMS Victoria on the Issue of 2 Litre Sports Sedans and wishing us luck on our first race meeting at Winton in the coming December (1992) with 38 entries received from around the East Coast of Australia, which was a big success and the rest they say is History.
